Dr. Turnage earned his medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical School in Jackson. Following medical school, he completed his residency in General Surgery at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama, where he also earned Scholar of the Year honors, and a Fellowship in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at University of New Mexico Hospitals in Albuquerque. Dr. Turnage is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Prior to joining the Medical Staff of West Florida Healthcare, Dr. Turnage practiced in Meridian, Mississippi, where he also served as Chief of Staff at the largest medical facility in the area, Anderson Regional Medical Center. A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Turnage is also a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the American College of Phlebology. He has been involved in research projects and has been published in several medical journals.
